my fav (vegan & VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY) DINNER restaurantS

1010 Innere Stadt

  • Lebenbauer - $$

If you’re looking for a special dinner location in the middle of the 1st district where you can enjoy high-quality vegan and vegetarian dishes, then Lebenbauer should be high on your list. I really liked their diverse vegan options including for example seitan, mushrooms or tempeh, while also fish is offered. Make sure to reserve your table (outside) and note that the restaurant is not open on the weekend or public holidays.

  • Figlmüller - $$
Did you know that you can also enjoy the world's most famous schnitzel in a vegan version made from pea protein at Figlmüller? Directly behind St Stephen's Cathedral, the two locations have been serving not only delicious (vegan) schnitzel & co, but also a glass or two of home-grown wine for 1905 years. Be sure to try the vegan version of the typical Austrian Schnitzerl served with their tasty salads.

  • C.O.P. - $$
One of the newest restaurants in Vienna with a twist is C.O.P standing for collection of produce. Thus, the high quality and regionality of the locally sourced ingredients/ the partner suppliers is at the center of the restaurant. The food is served in different sizes and mostly on small plates which are ideal to share. The attentive staff is more than happy to explain the menu and make adaptions to your food restrictions/ allergies. Make sure to reserve your place in advance as the restaurant is quite popular as you can imagine!

  • Jola (fully vegan) - $$$
If you’re looking for a special plant-based dinner experience than Jola is the ultimate go-to place for you. Jonathan & Larissa (the first two letters of their names make up the name of their restaurant) have put so much detail and love into their vegan fine dining restaurant and make sure you will have an unforgettable experience. Everything is so well thought of; from the daily changing menu according to the high-quality regional and seasonal products, their wine recommendations, the printed menu as a gift as well as the small „taste“ of your favorite menu point of the night in a glass jar - WOW.

  • Die Feinkosterei - $$

1020 Leopoldstadt

  • Neni am Wasser - $$$
Since last year Neni am Wasser is enriching the food scene on the Donaukanal and the place to be especially in summer. Haya Molcho and her family have done an amazing job in creating beautiful place with a delicious Levantine inspired cuisine for a dinner experience to remember. Pre-book your spot far in advance in order to be sure to get a table on your desired date & time.

  • Pisqu - $$

  • Madai Aperitivobeisl - $$

  • Cafe Ansari - $$

  • Skopik & Lohn - $$$

  • Mochi - $$$

1030 Landstraße

  • Heunisch & Erben - $$$
Located in the beautiful third district this restaurant has quickly become one of the favorite spots to visit for a special dinner with friends, family or colleagues in the last years. Although the restaurant is serving meat and fish as well, you can be certain that your food preferences are more than met, especially if you tell them when reserving your table (which you should as they quickly can be fully booked!)

  • Pumpui - $$

1040 Wieden

  • Alma Gastroteque - $$

1050 Margareten

  • La Taqueria Chiquita - $

If you’re looking for authentic tacos in Vienna, this is you place! The menu is changing every day, but there is always one vegan taco option with planted (for example tacos salsa verde, pastor, salsa roja etc.). The small taqueria can get really busy and then some tacos out of stock, so I’d advise you to come before the peak time (so before 7pm).

1060 Mariahilf

  • Mama Liu & Sons - $$
If you want to enjoy a special night out with a different kind of food, you need to head to Mama Liu & Sons, especially in winter. Their famous hot pot menu includes a vegan set with seasonal vegetables, tofu, smoked tofu and gluten free noodles. Make sure to reserve a table in advance and bring cash (no card payment accepted).

1070 Neubau

  • Rundbar - $$
You might know Rundbar “only” for their natural wines, while the lovely place is actually also serving a small, but carefully selected menu too. This includes for example (in summer) tomato carpaccio, while it is changing according to the season. I would highly recommend to check it out and don’t forget to book a table online!

  • Delicatessen - $$

  • &Flora - $$$
One of my favorite restaurants in Vienna is probably this beautiful restaurant located in the Hotel Gilbert. As one of my hobbies is to research „soft opening restaurants“ in Vienna, I was one of the first one’s to try the delicious food at & Flora already last year. Since then I’ve been lucky to experience their high quality menu multiple times and am always super happy when coming back.

  • The Lark - $$

  • Hotel am Brilliantengrund - $$

  • Tian Bistro (fully vegetarian) - $$$
This beautiful dinner place is a heaven come true for both lovers of the vegan and vegetarian cuisine. The food is served in a sharing concept in the middle of the table and the menu adapted according to the seasons. One of the most famous dishes is for sure the beetroot „beef tartar“ which you shouldn't miss! The chef Paul Ivic has written multiple cook books which you can also buy so that you can try the delicious recipes as well at home.

  • Seven North - $$$
I guess Seven North is the place I’ve been to the most for dinner in the last years - there has even been a time when I was there for dinner multiple times a month. The reason for that is not only their amazing food but also their concept of creating an unique dinner experience in a super cool atmosphere. They are also serving not only vegetarian and vegan menu choices but also meat and fish - so literally something for everyone.

  • Laolao - $

  • Nguyens Pho House - $

  • Maka Ramen - $$

  • Oreno Ramen - $$

  • Cafe Kandl - $$

  • Amerling Beisl - $$

  • Glacis Beisl - $$

1080 Josefstadt

  • Mammamon - $

  • Weinstube in der Josefstadt - $$

  • Tisch (fully vegan) - $$

  • Creo - $$$

  • Wildling (fully vegetarian) - $$
Since I’ve visited this lovely restaurant in the 8th district for the first time, I’ve kept it high on my fav dinner spot list in Vienna. As the name suggests the menu is designed around wild and fermented food and the small plates are served in the middle of the table so that you can enjoy multiple dishes at the same time. I especially love this place in summer when you can sit in their beautiful outside seating area.

  • Oreno Ramen - $$

1090 Alsergrund

  • ASPIC - $$
Great creative food with super tasty vegan and vegetarian options. The prices are really fair for the portion sizes and high quality. We had a great evening and really enjoyed the excellent food. Make sure to check out their seasonal lunch and dinner menu, it’s really a secret top tip in my opinion.

  • Freunderlwirtschaft - $$

  • Takumi Ramen - $$

1150 Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus

  • All Reis - $$

  • Cafe Cache - $$

  • Let’s be Frank - $$

1160 Ottakring

  • Mani - $$

  • Schlicht Vegan (fully vegan) - $$

  • Nan’s - $$
We had such a great dinner at Nan's! From the creamy miso soup to the delicious starters, the famous handmade noodles and the creamy desserts (the chocolate mousse!!) - everything was so so so so good! All the ingredients are super fresh and prepared in the restaurant. The team is so helpful and I would definitely recommend a visit!
