CO-WORKING FRIENDLY SPOTS & COFFEE SHOPS IN VIENNA

Vienna is full of charming coffee shops but where can you actually go if you need to get some work done? There aren’t that many laptop-friendly cafés and co-working spaces, which is why I tried to summarize my favorite spots across the districts where you can not only be productive but also enjoy amazing coffee.

Please also keep in mind that many of my tips have a “no laptop” policy on the weekend. Only a few allow you to work from their coffee shop also on Saturday & Sunday such as Goldener Papagei & Jonas Reindl.

To make planning easier, I’ve created a dedicated Google Maps list here where you can save all the spots I mention. Whether you're looking for a casual café or a more structured co-working environment, there’s something here for every need.

Lots of love,
Magda

my favorite co-working FRIENDLY spots & coffee shops in Vienna (sorted by district)

  • Kaffein Zeitgeist, 1010
Located in the heart of Vienna's 1st district, this stylish and modern cafe is perfect for coworking. The new second branch is offering comfortable seating on two floors and and high-quality coffee as well as a selection of (plant-based) pastries and snacks making it an ideal spot to work from if you’re in the city.

  • Goldener Papagei, 1020
One of my favorite coffee shops to work from is for sure Goldener Papagei situated in the 2nd district. The charming and cozy cafe is a great co-working spot (also on the weekends) and known for its lovely decor with many plants and warm ambiance. Their speciality coffee is super tasty and I also love to work from their beautiful outside seating area in summer.

  • Zoku, 1020
Probably my favorite place to spend a productive day is at Zoku. With it’s bright, open spaces, the rooftop co-working spaces are ideal for a full day of getting your work done. You can simply get a day pass (with or without lunch) which is including also unlimited hot beverages of your choice as well as their office facilities (printer etc.) for 38€. Another cool thing is their daily “Fika” coffee break to bring together local members while eenjoying a caffeine boost and some of their tasty treats.

  • Carl Ludwig Cafe, 1040
One of my latest finds is this lovely coffee shop in the 4th district. From the super friendly staff, very fair prices & nice pastries - everything is fitting at this coffee shop for me! The most convincing unique “feature” for me is the beautiful view on the palais as you can enjoy your coffee and work from their charming little terrace & soak in the Viennese vibe.

  • No Panic Coffee, 1040 & 1090
No Panic Coffee, with locations in the 4th and 9th districts, is my go-to spot if I’m looking for a relaxed yet productive environment. Known for its high-quality coffee and friendly staff, it provides a perfect setting for work or study. The 1090 location convinces with a sunny terrace and view over the Votiv church and at the 1040 branch I love the big community table where I can easily spend a few hours getting things done.

  • Caffe vom See, 1050
If you’re looking for a super charming coffee shop with a touch of lakeside charm in the middle of the city you need to check out Caffe vom See. This small but cozy cafe is ideal for remote workers as there’s a lovely community table in the middle of the coffee shop and also some outside seating available (less for working though as there are no proper tables). Their coffee prices are lower than average but the quality is as high as with other speciality coffee shops!

  • Coffee U-Boot, 1060/1080
Located in Florianigasse 12 in Vienna's 8th district, the Coffee U-Boot 1080 is the second branch of this beloved café, known for its expertly brewed specialty coffee and warm atmosphere. Ideal for both coffee lovers and remote workers, it offers a relaxed vibe, reliable Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating perfect for productivity. Whether you’re stopping by for a caffeine fix or settling in with your laptop, this café blends quality coffee with a welcoming community feel.

  • Cafe in der Burggasse24, 1070
This hidden gem offers a unique blend of vintage charm and modern coffee shop atmosphere as it is nestled within a vintage clothing store. For me Burggasse24 is perfect for working or studying, especially in summer on their terrace or in winter next to their chimney. The atmosphere is super relaxed, with plenty of comfortable seating and a good selection of coffee and light snacks & cakes. Please note: the last time I went there was no wifi so I had to make a hotspot with my phone!

  • Jonas Reindl Coffee, 1070 1080 & 1090
This Viennese coffee shop chain is one of my favorite to work from. My go-to spot is their newest location in the 8th district as you have both the possibility to work from inside and outside with many small tables. You can also work there on the weekend & public holidays and you shouldn’t miss their (vegan) sweets & treats. The team itself says they “strive to create a unique coffee experience by offering distinct flavours and aromas and by providing transparency from bean to cup” and I think they really achieve that.

  • Cafe The Province, 1080
The newly reopened café in the center of the 8th district offers a refreshing change from other coffee shops with a big outdoor seating area making it a perfect spot for warmer days. With a view on the beautiful Maria Treu church, it's the perfect spot for getting some work done while enjoying a good coffee. The extensive menu features French-inspired dishes such as waffles & crepes but also hummus and bowls, making it a great destination for combining work & lunch.

  • Freyja the croissant story, 1080
Located in the center of Vienna close to the univercity, Freyja is a must-visit for pastry lovers and coffee enthusiasts alike. Known for its Budapest roots, Freyja specializes in artisanal croissants with innovative flavors and exceptional quality. The cozy ambiance and minimalist design make it a great spot to enjoy a perfectly baked treat while getting some work done (there’s a community working table and power plugs as you can see in the picture). For sure one of my fav co-working spots in town!

  • Coffee Pirates, 1090
Located in the 9th district next to the old AKH uni campus, Coffee Pirates is a favorite among students and professionals alike, thanks to its relaxed atmosphere and excellent coffee. Known for its specialty coffee blends and single-origin beans, the café offers a perfect environment for getting work done with plenty of seating and reliable wifi. You can also grab delicious pastries, (vegan) cakes & sandwiches.

  • Grey Kaffee, 1170
Although this place is mostly known for it’s (vegan) pistachio croissants and speciality coffee, I also like to get some work done from time to time in the lovely coffee shop. There aren’t a lot of seating spots available in the small coffee shop, so I wouldn’t stay for hours but it’s a great spot if you’re in the area and want to combine work+cornetti+coffee & who doesn’t? ;)
